A lot of people believe that they need to get their house in order before they can attend a church. People sometimes have the notion that they have to stop doing the things that are viewed as sinful before they can be good enough to have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
The truth is, the roof won't fall in because you decide to attend a church AND Jesus can handle your "sin." In fact He's already taken care of it when He went to the cross to pay the ultimate price for all of our sins.
So if you're ready for a New Start in life, if you're tired of the old life and the direction you're heading then ponder and make this commitment - to turn away from your old life, ask Jesus to come into your old life and make it new, and give all of yourself to live for Him and being obedient to His word - the Bible.
You probably are wondering how to do this, simple, ask! Jesus said, "Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened." (Matt 7:7-8 NLT) So you can ask on your own, just talk to Him like you would a close friend; or you can follow this prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank You for making me and loving me, even when I’ve ignored you and gone my own way trying to run my own life. I now realize I need You in my life, and I’m sorry for my sins. I ask You to forgive me. Thank You for loving me and coming into the world to save me. Please help me to understand Your love and purpose for me. As much as I know how, I want to follow You from now on. Please come into my life, make me a new person and restore my relationships. I accept Your gift of salvation. Please help me to grow now as a Christian. Thank You for coming into my life. - Amen.
